Welcome to Sepala!
The Blacksmit's (Sepa) family started almost 200 years ago. Nowadays, there are no blacksmiths living on Sepa Farm, but we have preserved the only blacksmith's workshop on Kihnu. Today we welcome guests to promote Kihnu life, culture and our farm. It is your contribution that makes Kihnu sustainable!
We are a small family from the island of Kihnu
Our ancestors and parents come from or live on the island of Kihnu, and we ourselves have divided our lives between the mainland and the island. Some of our family members have also gone through the 9th grade Kihnu School, worked in a weather station and as social workers. We have also photographed and filmed documentaries about Kihnu Island, all to preserve memories for ourselves and others. As a Kihnu family, we have worked hard to continue to live and work on the island. Some of our family members still divide their lives between the island and city life, but one thing is clear, we all want Sepa Farm and Kihnu life to remain as authentic as possible. Sustainability depends largely on tourists, so it is with a truly warm heart that we welcome all our guests. Thank you for being there!
Sepä Viive
Sepä Viive is the landlady and caretaker of the Sepa farm. Viive's life started at Sepa farm. Viive's mother was a hard-working farm wife Olga and her father was a sailor Jaan. Viive's parents and grandparents extended Sepa farm with new houses and loved their island with all their soul. Jaan liked to fish and Olga liked to make handicrafts. Today, Viive and her family have taken over the development and good practices of Sepa Farm. Viive's hobbies are cooking Kihnu food, history, flowers and crafts. If you are interested in the history of Kihnu, you can find out more from Viive. We have also made a short film about Viive, you can watch it here. The sustainability of life on Kihnu is a matter of our family's soul.

"It all starts with an idea. Our idea was to make Sepa Farm a holiday destination in the middle of the Kihnu family and offer an authentic experience."

Sepä Janeli
Sepä Janeli has attended Kihnu School and lived in Kihnu since she was a child. She is a real Kihnu girl and a member of our family who likes to pick potatoes, make jewellery and play the accordion.

"The beauty and charm of Kihnu lies in its simplicity. It's hard to find that peace and beauty anywhere else."

Olgi (formal name Olga) and Mann (formal name Maria) were two strong strong Kihnu women, both born in 1934 on the island of Kihnu. Initially the twin sisters lived on the island of Manija, but when the twin sisters were grown it was time for them to marry. Both married men from Kihnu. Olgi's future heart was to develop the Sepa farm with the sailor and his wife Jaan. From their marriage they had a daughter, Viive, who is now the owner of Sepa Farm.
